Elise’s Christmas Present

I was looking through photos of things I’ve crocheted and realized I haven’t posted photos of what I made for my sister Elise for Christmas. The very first crochet animal I ever made was a horse, and I gave it to her. She lugged Cherry Pie (as she named it) around, dragged it in the dirt, literally loved it to death. It wasn’t wonderfully constructed to begin with—its neck was never completely attached because I had NO idea what I was doing. Before Christmas Mama went through toys with the girls and cleaned things out, and poor Cherry Pie had to be thrown away. So I purposed to make Elise another horse for Christmas.

I used the horse pattern in Annie Obaachan’s book Super Cute. And I must say, I think it is the best amigurumi I have made yet! If you’d like to see any photos closer up, just click on them. Elise named her new favorite animal Cookie Dough.

NOVEL idea!

I had a brainstorm yesterday. There are tons of people who write up their own crochet patterns and then sell them (and the things the make from their patterns!) on this website called Etsy.
And I was thinking, Why shouldn’t I be able to do that too?
So I decided I would try to look at a picture of an animal and make my own pattern from it. I started looking through all the animal books we have (which are a lot!) and write down some animals I might be interested in making.
I started on the alpaca. Looking at these photos:

I came up with the body:

Now I realize it looks funny with no legs and no head or neck but I thought I would tell you all my idea. Hopefully I’ll be coming up with a  lot more of these. I’ll show you the finished alpaca, as well.

Other Things I've Made

As well as animals, I've also made a hat for my sister (check it out, it's one of the first posts) and ballet slippers. My sister Elise is REALLY into ballet, so she asked me to PLEASE make her some ballet slippers. If she only knew the time and effort it took me to find a good pattern and translate it into her size...! Oh, well, I was extremely happy with the way they turned out, and decided to post pics for you all. I made these a while back, and she actually wore them so much and all over the place that they are history now. Oh well, I still know how to make them. ;)

Animals I Have Made (not for school)

So, sorry it's been so long since my last post. School is really keeping me busy this year, as I'm taking some classes through a school online, plus I have my regular at-home classes.

I will now post pictures of more animals I have made.

A bird I made for my little sister. I'm not sure what she ended up naming it.

Animals I Have Made

Not Much Lately...

It has been BUSY lately. . . Finishing school and getting ready to move has been taking up much of my time, which means, unfortunately, that I have not had too much time to crochet.

However, for a last school project, we had to choose something creative to do, so guess what I chose? Amigurumi (for those of you who don't know, it's the Japanese craft of crocheting little crochet animals)!! I just love amigurumi (It's so fun to see how your animals come along!), so I decided to choose to crochet animals for my project. So far I have made a beaver from this pattern . . .

. . .and I am working on an owl from this pattern.

Then all I will have left is a lion, which I will make from Ana Paula Rimoli's book Amigurumi World: Seriously Cute Crochet which I ordered (along with her Amigurumi Two book) that I hope should get here soon!!

I can't wait to get my books, and make animals other than the ones for my project ;)

Hat For My Little Sister

Here is the hat I made for my sister. I made this maybe about a month or two ago, but I think it turned out really well!

I used this pattern to make it, and did a few more decrease rows to make it a little smaller. I love the openwork.
